Learning Chinese through music is a great way to unwind and study in a more relaxed way!
Today, I want to try something new on the blog, and start to introduce some Chinese songs. I’ll be picking some of the most loved songs in mainland China and Taiwan, both classic and modern, the kind of songs that will always go down well if you ever go to China and sing them at karaoke
As well as the karaoke video with the music and Chinese lyrics, I’m also including the full Chinese text in simplified characters, as well as the Pinyin pronunciation guide, so you can follow or sing along even if you don’t know the characters!
Note that a lot of Chinese karaoke videos are in traditional Chinese characters (including this one), but I’ll give you the lyrics below in simplified Chinese characters, that way you can go with the ones you’re most familiar with or make your own comparisons.
Whether you’ve just started learning Chinese and you want to explore the culture a bit more, or you’ve been learning a while and you just want to approach things from another angle, it can be quite fun to learn some Chinese songs..
Today, I’ve chosen a slow and fairly easy song, which is also an absolute classic. It’s old (from 1979), but you’ll still here it sung all over China. The singer, Teresa Teng, died in the 90s, but she’s still a much-loved singer, and this is one of her signature songs.
Hope you enjoy it!
